アメリカに暮らして、あまりの無神経さや非効率さに、あきれたり、くたびれることも多い。しかし、たまに感激することもある。それはバカみたいに正義感の強い人間が必ずどこにでもいること。自分の子供がいじめの対象でもないのに、正義感から立ち上がって、いじめの対象の子のために戦う親たちの話を聞いた時も驚いた。何の見返りもないのに、失職することを恐れず、内部の不正を告発する人間もいる。青臭い正義感の塊のような人間がいるのだ。とにかく“フェアネスを大事にする”気風があるのだ。
